Global CTI - Overseas Study Trips

The certificate programs offered by the Institute for Professional Development are for-credit courses of DePaul University. Upon successful completion of a certificate program, credit hours and a certificate of completion are awarded. Credit hours are based on the quarter system (as opposed to semesters), and the number of credit hours varies by program.

To determine how these credit hours might transfer to a degree program, the student should consult the university granting the degree. For information on credit transferability within the schools and colleges of DePaul University, please contact the specific school or college directly.

DePaul's College of Computing and Digital Media (CDM) offers undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D. degree programs, and uses the following guidelines in determining how certificate program credit may apply to its degree programs. It is important to note that students in the master's programs may only substitute a maximum of two of their master's-level course requirements with credit earned in a certificate program. In all cases, students should contact their advisors to see if, and how, the credit hours will apply to their degree program.

Global CTI - Overseas Study Trips
The overseas study trips were part of the College of Computing and Digital Media's Global Initiative during the 2005-2006 school years.

Topics in Global IT, IPD 399/499
The overseas study trips are catalogued as IPD 399 (for the undergraduate section) and IPD 499 (for the graduate section). This is a graded course (Pass/Fail and Audit are not available) that carries 4 credit hours. The course credit earned is elective credit. As a general rule, undergraduate students are limited to 2 trips (8 credit hours) to be used as electives and graduate students are limited to 1 trip (4 credit hours) to be used as an elective in their degree program. Students should check with their advisors if they have questions.
