SQL Server Database Administration Program Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) About the Online Section:
|
 |
| |
- How is the online section of the SQL Server Database Administration Program conducted?
We have two sections of the program: the traditional section which meets on campus and
another section for students who are taking the program online. Using DePaul CDM's
innovative Course OnLine (COL) system, the essential elements of our on-campus
classes-the lecture itself and information displayed in class and written on the board-are
recorded and synchronized into a single, flexible interface, which is made available
online only a few hours later.
Students in the online section view the program lectures using COL, instead of
coming to class in person. They follow the same course schedule and the same
(or equivalent) course requirements as the on-campus students. Coursework is
facilitated by an online course management and communication system.
- How do I know if I should sign up for the online section?
If you are certain that you cannot attend classes on campus,
but would still like to take the SQL Server Database Administration Program, you might consider taking the online section.
Most students who are successful taking our programs online share some important
characteristics such as the ability to work independently and manage their time
effectively. These students are also highly comfortable using technology to
view courses, to read lecture notes, and to communicate with instructors and classmates.
- How can I view a sample of the Course OnLine technology?
The minimum systems requirements for using this technology are:
- Operating System: Windows 98/NT 4.0/Me/2K/XP
- 128 MB RAM
- 56k modem or faster (High Speed Connection
recommended)
- Sound Card
- Speakers
- 800 x 600 Resolution Monitor
- Windows Media Player: 6.4 or above (9.0
recommended)
- Java Virtual Machine: Sun JDK/JRE 1.4 or
above
- Internet Explorer 5.0 or above
It is also recommended that you perform a
system setup and test
to check if your system has the requirements necessary to view Course OnLine. This test will
check your operating system, browser, and media player. It will also check for
firewalls, use an embedded media player, and will make sure you can download the required Java applets.
